General Device’s User Spotlight: Arizona — Improving Pediatric Patient Care

Phoenix Children’s Hospital is one of the largest pediatric healthcare systems in the country. It provides inpatient, outpatient, trauma, and emergency care across more than 75 subspecialties.

It is Arizona’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and the emergency room receives around 20-30 ambulances daily.

In 2015, they weren’t ready for their communications equipment when they sought to upgrade their state certification to that of a Base Hospital. An Arizona Base Hospital is able to give advanced life support medical direction to incoming EMS crews. Receiving the new designation was contingent upon overhauling their entire telecommunications technology. They needed a new system to more efficiently and securely connect with emergency care teams that were transporting patients to the ED..

The CAREpoint ED Workstation provided them a solution to their needs with capabilities like:

  • Radio voice and video recording
  • Data monitoring
  • Data management reports
  • Forms
  • Documentation
  • 12-Lead Retrieval

“It helps with our process improvements and helps to get us more prepared,” said Kris Ramos, Base Hospital Coordinator.
